The Papa Johns Trophy Semi-Finals get underway tonight and here’s what the managers had to say ahead of kick-off…
Steven Schumacher, Plymouth Argyle
“I can’t wait. It’s not every week you get to play in a cup Semi-Final. It should be exciting – I know the players are all looking forward to it. It’s a brilliant opportunity for us so hopefully we can play well.
“We have enjoyed this tournament, it has been good for loads of different reasons. We have got loads of young players experience, we have got injured players back who needed minutes, and now we have got a Semi-Final.
“We will be picking a team that can hopefully go and win it and take us to Wembley.”
Wade Elliott, Cheltenham Town
“My time here has coincided, with three or four years that have been a brilliant time for the Football Club. What’s the secret? All I can tell you is we have good people working hard. That goes throughout the Football Club.
“What we’ve been really good at is everyone being united, fans, staff, players, board all pulling in the same direction. If you get good people working hard and pulling in the same direction you can achieve a lot. Sprinkle in a bit of quality and you’d be amazed what you can achieve. There is a good feel around the place and it’s a good place to be.”
John Coleman, Accrington Stanley
“There is a feel-good factor; we got through to the Semi-Finals and we have got to build on that. You have to use the cup exploits to motivate yourself and give an idea of what you can do right and what you have done wrong.
“The Papa Johns Trophy is always a big competition for us. We are an open book. Everyone knows we want to win it, we will try our hardest to get to Wembley.”
Ian Evatt, Bolton Wanderers
“We have a great opportunity to get through to a Wembley cup final. For us now it’s just about making sure we show the best version of ourselves. More than half the stadium being our fans is fantastic for us. Let’s use it in a positive way. It spurs the players to want it even more when they’re right behind us.
“It’s more about us and what we do. It’ll be a really difficult game, but I believe if we reach the levels we can then we have a great chance to win the game and get to the Final.”
