Football FanCast brings you all the definitive West Ham United transfer round-up as the summer transfer window comes to a dramatic close.
The Irons have got off to a flying start this season and found themselves first in the league upon the closing of the window – albeit after a Friday night victory over Luton Town.
After losing Declan Rice to Arsenal and a slow start to their transfer business, they have ended the window with five new faces at the club – one of whom was immediately loaned back out again.
While the loss of Rice was undeniably significant for the club and its fans, the new recruits represent an ambitious vision from the East Londoners to push on without their former captain.
Who have West Ham signed this summer?
After a languid start to their business in the summer – one that left them as the only Premier League team not to sign a player at one point – the Hammers have ended the window looking much more robust than when they first started in some areas of the team.
The first signing to come through the door was Mexico international Edson Alvarez, who joined from Dutch giants Ajax in a deal worth around £34m. Considering he was heavily linked to Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea last summer, this represented a coup for the club.
That said, perhaps the most exciting signing of the summer for David Moyes and co is Ghanaian star Mohammed Kudus, who, just like Alvarez, joined from Ajax, this time in a deal worth £38m. The 23-year-old scored 11 goals in 19 league starts last season, so it’s no surprise to see the excitement this transfer has caused amongst the Hammers faithful.
The final significant arrival of the summer for the east Londoners was Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse, who joined the club in a deal worth £30m.
For as brilliant a signing as this is, it always felt like one that was destined to happen once the Saints were relegated at the end of last season.

Who have West Ham sold this summer?
There is no escaping from the fact that the most significant piece of business done by West Ham this summer was the sale of club captain Declan Rice to cross-city rivals Arsenal. The Gunners paid £105m to secure the 24-year-old’s signature – a new record for a British player.
However, the midfielder was not the only player to leave the London Stadium this summer, with forwards Gianluca Scamacca and Nikola Vlasic waving goodbye to the East End. Both strikers moved to Italy, with the former joining Atalanta in a deal worth £27m and the latter signing for Torino for £12m.
Club hero Manuel Lanzini also said his goodbyes to the West Ham faithful and joined Argentinian giants River Plate on a free.
