Urs Fischer says the referee told him he was “too aggressive” after he was sent off following Union’s cup defeat to Stuttgart.
Union Berlin coach Urs Fischer has explained why he was shown a red card by referee Sascha Stegemann after Tuesday’s 1-0 DFB-Pokal loss to VfB Stuttgart.
“Because I was supposedly too cheeky, too aggressive. The referee told me that,” Fischer told Sky Deutschland.
“I spoke to him in the dressing room and apologized, but then I asked myself: ‘What are you allowed to do now?’ Allegedly I was too aggressive, but without insulting him.
“I want to emphasize that Urs Fischer didn’t insult me.
“He apologized to me and I accepted his apology. So there are no hard feelings.”
Pressure is mounting on Urs Fischer, who has lost his last 11 competitive matches with Union Berlin.
