Planned for many weeks, Lionel Messi’s contract extension with PSG has still not been officially announced. In Spain, some sources claim that the Argentine is in deep doubt about his future.
On June 30, 2023, the contract between Lionel Messi and Paris Saint Germain will come to an end. At the time of writing these lines, the future of the sevenfold Ballon d’Or therefore still seems unclear. If the French press has announced on many occasions that the Argentinian would continue his adventure in the capital, no official press release has come to make things clear.
In Spain, we therefore begin to dream of a return of the hero to his former home, Barça. On Monday, journalist Gerard Romero ignited social media by claiming the 35-year-old striker was no longer sure he wanted to stay in France for the next few years. According to the latter, the Pulga would have changed their minds after the World Cup. So should we be worried?
Messi’s extension is still on the agenda
According to Fabrizio Romano, “Leo Messi’s situation has not changed. A new meeting will take place soon with Paris Saint-Germain to discuss the duration of the new contract and then have him signed.. The Italian journalist, whose information generally turns out to be quite reliable, adds that “Leo plans to continue in Paris” and that‘“’a verbal pact was discussed in December”. RMC goes in the same direction.
Even more reassuring for PSG fans, TYC, Argentinian reference media, says that the time has come for a contract extension for Lionel Messi. What to think then of the information from the Spanish press? Some see it as the shadow of Barça who would try to destabilize the reigning French champion.
Not selected this Monday evening to face the fans of Cassel (0-7) in the Coupe de France, Lionel Messi should make his return in the next Ligue 1 match for PSG. The Reds and Blues will host the Stade de Reims this Sunday at 8:45 p.m. at the Parc des Princes.
