Although the club itself only reported upon a “partially completed” squad training session, a reliable source at Germany’s preeminent footballing publication reports that star striker Christopher Nkunku was able to fully partake in Leipzig squad training on Tuesday. Prospects for a return for the French talisman against Augsburg this weekend thus appear good.
Sky Germany previously reported that Leipzig had planned to re-integrate Nkunku into squad training fully this week. In commenting on why Nkunku was withheld from a return last week against Hertha, RB trainer Marco Rose spoke of the need for a “full week’s worth of work with the team”. The current 2022/23 Bundesliga’s joint fourth-leading goalscorer has been missing from action with a muscle tear since early March.
