A Newcastle United transfer target must make a decision over his future in the coming days amid ongoing interest from St James’ Park, it has been claimed.
Newcastle United are set to find out whether Youssoufa Moukoko could move to St James’ Park as the Borussia Dortmund star has been handed a ‘take it or leave it’ contract offer, Bild journalist Christian Falk has told GiveMeSport.
Magpies head coach Eddie Howe could welcome fresh faces to Tyneside ahead of the fast-approaching January transfer deadline.

Newcastle transfer news – Youssoufa Moukoko
According to respected journalist Fabrizio Romano, Newcastle and Barcelona are among the clubs battling it out to sign Moukoko.
However, it appears the duo could be frustrated in their efforts to land the teenager as the transfer guru, writing in his CaughtOffside column, suggests Dortmund are optimistic their latest contract proposal will be successful.
The Bundesliga giants are desperate for Moukoko to put pen-to-paper as his current deal is due to expire in the summer.
Newcastle have held discussions over the striker signing a pre-contract agreement which would see him head to St James’ Park on a £150,000-per-week deal at the end of the season.
Romano recently told GiveMeSport that Newcastle are informed of Moukoko’s Dortmund situation and a number of Premier League sides are exploring the possibility of luring him away from his homeland.
What has Christian Falk said about Moukoko?
Falk understands that Dortmund have put a fresh contract proposal worth upwards of £5million-per-year on the table as they attempt to keep Moukoko at Signal Iduna Park.
The Bundesliga insider, who has a transfer column for CaughtOffside, is aware the German outfit will not increase the pay package any further and are pushing for the 18-year-old to make a decision by the end of the week.
Falk told GiveMeSport: “There’s a very interesting development at the moment. His agent was in the training camp last week and they talked a lot about the future.
“I think Dortmund made a very good offer to pay him €6million-a-year on a four-year deal, along with a signing fee of €10million and a signing fee for the agent of €5million.
“They hoped to make a decision last weekend, but it didn’t happen, so now the bosses of Dortmund are very disappointed.
“Now they say Moukoko has to decide this week whether to take it or leave it.”

Would Moukoko be a good signing for Newcastle?
Moukoko has already shown that he has a bright future ahead of him by scoring 11 goals and registering a further eight assists in 59 Dortmund appearances, according to Transfermarkt.
Amid the uncertainty over his future, the Germany international has found the back of the net six times this season.
It is easy to see why Dortmund are desperate to retain Moukoko’s services as only four of his teammates have been handed a better average match rating by WhoScored since the campaign got underway.
Sofascore statistics show he has averaged a Bundesliga goal every 128 minutes this term, so there is no doubt that he would be an exciting addition to Howe’s squad at Newcastle.
