Liverpool are ‘trying to convince’ Jude Bellingham to make the summer move to Anfield as the Borussia Dortmund star is considered to be ‘the dream for the midfield’, journalist Rudy Galetti has told GiveMeSport.
Cody Gakpo linked up with the Reds last month, having sealed a £44million switch from PSV Eindhoven, but there were no further signings during the January transfer window.
Liverpool transfer news – Jude Bellingham
According to The Athletic, Liverpool are pushing hard to land Bellingham and fellow suitors Real Madrid are becoming resigned to the fact that the financial muscle of the Premier League is almost unbeatable.
The report suggests the central midfielder is unlikely to be sold for less than £110million, but Manchester City are also among the interested parties.
CBS reporter Ben Jacobs recently told GiveMeSport that Liverpool consider themselves to be among the frontrunners for Bellingham’s signature and they will ‘throw everything’ at attempting to lure him away from Dortmund.
It has emerged that Liverpool are attempting to generate the funds for the teenager by selling a number of their fringe players in the summer transfer window.
But they are facing additional competition from Newcastle United and Manchester United, who are in the hunt to strike a deal, while Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are no longer in the running to meet Dortmund’s demands.
What has Rudy Galetti said about Bellingham?
Galetti understands that Bellingham is Liverpool’s top midfield target ahead of the transfer window reopening in the summer.
The Italian journalist believes the Reds are attempting to persuade the England international to head to Merseyside, but they do not want to get involved in a bidding war.
Galetti told GiveMeSport: “Liverpool consider Bellingham to be the dream for the midfield.
“They are trying to convince the player in every way, but not in any cause because they don’t want to enter a bidding war.”

Would Bellingham be an exciting signing for Liverpool?
Bellingham has been handed an average match rating of 7.47 by WhoScored, meaning he has been Dortmund’s top performer in the Bundesliga this season.
That comes as little surprise as there is no doubt the £49,000-per-week midfielder has been producing the goods on the pitch.
Bellingham has found the back of the net 10 times while also registering a further five assists in 25 outings since the campaign got underway.
Sofascore statistics show the 19-year-old has also been averaging 2.9 tackles, 1.3 interceptions and 1.1 clearances per Bundesliga appearance this term, highlighting that he is valuable when it comes to attempting to win possession.
With James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita’s respective contracts being due to expire in the summer, Bellingham would be an astute signing for Liverpool.
