Manchester City will be hoping to continue the defence of their Champions League crown when they face RB Leipzig on Wednesday.
The Citizens cruised to a 3-1 win over Red Star Belgrade in their opening game of the campaign, but Pep Guardiola’s side have lost their last two domestic games.
City were dumped out of the Carabao Cup by Newcastle United last week, before slumping to a 2-1 defeat against Wolves in the Premier League on Saturday.
The Spaniard will therefore be desperate to avoid a third successive loss, but he will be boosted by City’s 7-0 win over Leipzig last season, during which Erling Haaland netted five times.
In the meantime, it appears that City are one of a number of top European clubs interested in a Bundesliga star.
As per 90min, City are monitoring Bayern Munich wing-back Alphonso Davies.
The 22-year-old joined Bayern from MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps back in 2019 and has since established himself as one of the best left wing-backs in world football.
A 41-time Canada international, Davies has made 163 appearances for Bayern across all competitions, scoring eight goals and providing 28 assists.
The report claims that, as well as City, fellow Premier League side Chelsea and Spanish giants Real Madrid are also keeping tabs on the Canadian.
The player’s current contract is set to expire in 2025 and his agent has admitted that he could leave Bavaria following that, the report claims.
Despite interest from elsewhere, the Bundesliga champions are reportedly keen to tie Davies down to a new contract, with the former Vancouver man having featured in all ten of their matches across all competitions so far this term.
While the player has only been in Germany for four-and-a-half years, he has already won no fewer than 13 trophies with his current club, including five Bundesliga titles and the Champions League in 2020.
